Real Estate Experience
As a licensed real estate professional since 1986, Shirley has a wealth of experience specializing in the listing and sales of single and multi-family homes and land in and around Rhode Island. Whether you’re coming or going, in and around coastal Rhode Island and outlying areas, it would be Shirley’s pleasure to help you manage, market, and maximize on the sale or purchase of your home!
In the late 1970s, Shirley and a friend opened their own dance/exercise studio in Cranston, RI called BodyUp. They were the first exercise-to-music, female audience studio in the state, with a program fashioned after Jane Fonda’s video classes. The business took off and expanded quickly! She had a great time running the studio for about six years, then sold her half of the business to her partner, to focus on starting her family. Shirley’s children Eric and Tess were born 11 and ½ months apart, and it was during this time that she obtained her real estate license. The rest, as they say, is history!
The Good Stuff
Shirley resides in Wakefield with her husband, Nick, who painstakingly restores the interiors and wood components of classic antique automobiles. Shirley’s passion for new experience and her love of travel and culture resulted in her moving to Northern Italy with her husband for five years, where she became fluent in Italian and enjoyed all the wonderful aspects of life overseas! Shirley loves living in and working in South County, where she gets to be near her growing family!
How did you get into this business? What has kept you in it?
I felt overwhelmed at my first home purchase and wanted to help other buyers understand the process of buying home before they got to the closing table. Each transaction is unique, it keeps me from becoming stale and I feel great being able to help others.
Best local food/drink?
I love the Ocean Mist and it’s bloody Mary’s, it’s funky and the view is unreal!
What local tradition do you love the most?
Ladies’ Night on Main Street in Wakefield is always really fun.
When have you been most satisfied in your life?
I’m very satisfied now, I’m more relaxed, enjoying my children and their children, and feel like my life has been enriched by the international travel I’ve been blessed to have experienced; it has given me a very broad look at life, people, traditions, foods, language and so much more!
